Museum of 51

April – September 2011

An exhibition of art, design and memorabilia from the Southbank Centre’s archive and from private and public collections around the country relating to the 1951 Festival of Britain. Key exhibits included a newly restored ‘Patchwork of the Century’, a Meccano model of the Festival of Britain ferris wheel, and a typical 1950s living room, curated by Homes & Antiques magazine, which features atomic-inspired patterns, an Ercol sofa and a G-Plan dining set.

Museum of 51 was part of Southbank Centre’s Festival of Britain 60th Anniversary Celebrations with Mastercard.

I was team manager and additionally co-curated the museum design and content with Emily Churchill, Georgia Dickson and Hemingway Design.

The exhibition included four new documentaries edited by myself and William Mager.
